Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Warehouse Manager I, the Warehouse Worker performs work in the receipt, storage, inventory and issue of Lottery tickets and related materials. The Warehouse Worker may also receive supervision and guidance from the Warehouse Manager II and the Materials and Stores Supervisor.

This position is headquartered at the Northern Distribution Center (NDC) in West Sacramento. This position is not eligible for telework.

Working Conditions

  1. Schedule:  8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
  2. Travel: Travel is limited. Typically, travel is required for less than one week per year.
  3. Other: The Warehouse Worker must possess a valid Class III California driver’s license valid for the operation of any two-axle single-motor vehicle in order to perform the essential duties of the position.

  • The California State Lottery Act provides that no person may be hired as an employee of the Commission if that person has been convicted of a felony or any gambling related offense.
  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • This/These position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
  • This/These position(s) require(s) drug test clearance prior to being hired.
  • This/These position(s) require(s) a California Driver’s License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application including providing your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • At least one year of experience assisting in the receipt, storage or issue of materials from a centralized stockroom or warehouse
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow safety protocols on lifting and carrying weight upward of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an environment that requires the incumbent be free from sensitivity to normal warehouse conditions including heat, cold, dust and/or other debris
  • Knowledge of methods of taking inventories and maintaining inventory records
  • Bilingual skills are desirable but not required

Post & Bid

Candidates eligible for Post & Bid include employees who have permanent full-time status as a Warehouse Worker and who possess the required skills and abilities. To apply for Post & Bid, submit a standard State application (STD 678) form and a departmental bid request form. The position will be awarded to the Post & Bid candidate with the highest seniority. If no Post & Bid candidates apply, selection will be opened to those candidates who have current list eligibility for appointment to this class, or be a State employee who has transfer eligibility, or is currently in the Warehouse Worker classification. Applications will be screened and only those that best meet the requirements of the job will be considered. Appointment is subject to the provisions of SROA/Surplus.
