Golf Course Superintendent
Golf Course in Elgin, South Carolina is looking for a Golf Course Superintendent.
Position Overview:
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with a passion for turfgrass management and a proven track record of maintaining a high-quality golf course. This position requires a professional who is not only a team player but also an independent self-starter capable of taking ownership of the course’s operations.
Duties:
• Course management: Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance, including but not limited to, mowing, irrigation, fertilization, pest control, and course renovations.
• Team leadership: Supervise, train, and manage a dedicated crew of groundskeepers. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
• Budget management: Develop and manage an annual departmental budget of $1.25m – $1.5m, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient use of resources.
• Agronomic expertise: Plan and execute a comprehensive agronomic program.
• Equipment management: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all course equipment, ensuring operational readiness and longevity.
• Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the owner, general manager, management team, and the membership. Provide regular updates on course conditions and upcoming projects.
• Safety: Uphold and enforce all club safety policies and procedures and follow all state and federal regulations.
Requirements:
A degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
Strong knowledge of irrigation systems, pesticide application, and a comprehensive understanding of turfgrass diseases and pests.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Proven ability to manage a budget and control costs effectively.
A pesticide applicator’s license is required.
